OLD BUSINESS

NEW BUSINESS
Park benches - LDGA voted to purchase and install 2 benches at the County park. Jon will seek permission
from the county judge and Parks personnel. Allen, Ricky and Rex will research if benches can be purchased locally to support the local economy as well as to save on shipping expenses. Andy will fashion a "donated by" sign for each bench after installation. Installation will be performed by all available club members.
Picnic table - Jon still has the brackets for the construction of a picnic table. Rex will get with Jon to get a materials list needed to complete the table and make the purchase. Rex will be responsible for coordinating the construction. No time table announced, hopefully before league play begins. Ø
Practice basket - LDGA voted to purchase and install a practice basket at the county park. Ricky checked with Innova about cost. No discounts are available for the basket we want, cost will be approximately $300 plus $60 shipping expense. Jon will also seek permission for the installation from county and parks personnel. Tentative basket location being proposed is between the message board and the closest ball field.
East Frankfort subcommittee -The LDGA voted to form a subcommittee to oversee and report course maintenance needs at East Frankfort Park to the LDGA board. The duties mentioned, but not limited to, are to serve as liaisons to the LDGA board to report course needs, maintenance requests and course damage, coordinate work projects or clean-ups as they develop and are needed. Volunteers to date are Andy Austin, Bob Huff, Josh Brumback, Bill Gallion and Bud Jennings and any other willing members. Note: volunteers absent from this meeting did not object to being named to this subcommittee.
Frankfort tournament - Jon has been in discussion with Frankfort Parks and Rec about LDGA taking the lead in promoting disc golf in Frankfort and they have been very supportive. Plans are for the LDGA to sponsor a non-sanctioned tournament on Saturday, June 2. LDGA voted to place a disc order with Innova for the tournament; Jon will place the order with the approval of the LDGA board. Rex will begin promoting the event on the web and on message boards as soon as more details are decided upon. Tournament name and tournament logo are being requested from all members and needs to be submitted to the board by mid-April.
Insurance liability purchase -The LDGA board has been seeking quotes regarding the purchase of liability insurance for the club. Since no quotes have been received, this issue was tabled until the next meeting.
Banking bucks - The LDGA banking option was opened for discussion. It appears that the program and membership perk was well received last year so no changes will be made for the 2012 disc year.
Lawrenceburg league play -Handicapped league play will begin on Monday, April 23 at the county park course. Start time will be 6:30 pm with sign-in beginning around 6:00 pm. Same format as in year's past.
Frankfort league play - The LDGA, with the support of the Frankfort Parks and Recreation department, will operate a Tuesday night league at East Frankfort Park beginning Tuesday, April 24. Start time will be 6:30 pm.
For those who have played in past years in Frankfort, the format will change. The league will be run as a singles handicapped format with payouts of discs to winners. The number of positions paid out each night will be dependent upon the number of participants each league night. Since this format requires more detailed record keeping and scoring, Kevin and Rex will put together information packets with instructions on running
league play. The more people that become involved in running the league will insure that it will be
successful. The change from a cash-payout format was thoroughly discussed and replaced with the previously
mentioned format for various reasons, the most notable being: 1)it is more promotable to new disc'ers of all ages and skills, and 2) it would be more positively received by the Frankfort Parks and Rec Board.
Bag tags - Discussion was opened up regarding the new bag tag challenge that the LDGA began for the 2012 year. All indications show that the program has been well received to date so no new additional rules were invoked. All players are encouraged to put their tags on the line as frequently as possible to promote the fun that the bag tags were intended.
No date was set for the next LDGA meeting, although it was noted it should be prior to league play.
