2010 League Details
Monday night, April 19 will be the first league night of 2010. Once again, this will be a handicap league so that players of all skill levels can competitively compete. The league will begin at the new Anderson County Community Park course with sign-up beginning at 6:00 pm and play starting at 6:30 pm. Payouts will always be for CTB, first and second place with additional places paid based on the number of participants each night. This league will run for 6 weeks, same place, same time each week. The league will then shift to the Lawrenceburg City Park course for another 6 weeks with handicapping starting anew. The fees for playing in the league are as follows:
$4.00 - entry fee into league night play
$1.00 - CTB (Closest to the Basket) fee (optional)
$1.00 - ACE Pool (a hole in one) fee (optional)
Remember: All LDGA members receive a $1.00 discount on their entry fee each night.

April 19
Wow! What a great start to the 2010 LDGA league. 22 disc'ers showed up on the first league night and now have established their handicap. The weather was great and the wind even eased up as soon as play began. The 6:30 start time worked well as everyone finished 18 holes just as the light started to fade. Josh Winfrey started with 2 bogeys then caught fire and finished 1st with a blazing 49. The family-Spaulding did battle for 2nd and 3rd with dad Ricky firing a 52 and son Jordan coming in with a 54. And adding to his take for the night, Ricky Spaulding took the CTB honors for the night on hole # 1. No one captured the Ace Pool which was worth $15.
April 26
Even though the second league night was canceled due to the weather, there were still 13 who showed up and decided not to waste the opportunity to play a round. Scores were a bit higher than week 1 but the wet and windy conditions could have been a factor. Additionally, another new member (Tracy Bottom) joined the LDGA tonite. Hopefully April showers will be gone by the next league night (May 3).
May 3
Even after 6.8" of rain fell over the weekend, the sun re-appeared along with 20 league participants. The wind still played havoc with some shots but it died down as the round was played. The first night of applying the handicaps brought everyone's scores close together. When all was done, Allen Miller appeared at the top of the leader board with an adjusted score of 51. Second place was claimed by Jon Winfrey with a 54. Marty McMichael took 3rd but not before winning a throw-off with 4 others who also posted a score of 55. Kevin Hall took the CTB honors for the night on hole #3. No one claimed the Ace Pool which stood at $31.
May 10
Another great turnout for league play as 22 disc'ers came out to sling some plastic and 2 new members joined the LDGA (Gabe and Marty McMichael). Congratulations go out to Eric Kopser who came in first with an adjusted score of 49. Second place went to Adam Naumann with a 51. Third place was decided with a throw-off on hole #1 with Gabe McMichael taking the honor by beating out Tim Tinnell, Jr. Both Gabe and Tim shot adjusted scores of 52. And let's not forget to recognize Kevin Harris who took CTB honors for the night by parking his drive on hole #2 almost underneath the basket. The Ace Pool would have been worth $47 to someone but once again it went unclaimed. Maybe next week we'll have a winner? Remember, only 3 more weeks of league play at the county park and then we take the show to the city park.
May 17
Well the rain didn't stop the league night from starting with a field of 17 disc'ers at the scheduled time of 6:30 but the lightning bolts around 8:00 did shorten the round. Some groups only completed 12 holes and there were some that stayed out (brave or dumb, you make the call) and completed 18. Since the only scores everyone had in common was their first round of 9, scores were counted twice and then adjusted for handicaps. After all that congrats go out to the following: George Hanks - 1st place, Kevin Harris - 2nd place, Tracy Bottom - 3rd place, CTB - Jon Winfrey. The Ace Pool remained unclaimed with a value of $62. Only 2 more weeks of league play at the county park before we move to the city park.
May 24
Summer weather arrived tonight along with 18 league participants. Matthew Pinkston took the CTB honors on hole #1. After 18 holes of competition we had 5 players tied with an adjusted score of 52. Since payouts were for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, a throw-off on hole number 1 was needed. After the dust had settled, Mike Ruble had taken 1st place, Allen Miller got 2nd place and Todd Drury captured 3rd. A pat on the back goes to George Hanks and Tim Tinnell Jr., who were also in the throw-off but just missed out on placing on the payout board. The Ace Pool grew to $78 but once again no one was able to make any chain music. Only 1 more week of singles league play remain at the county park. Show up next week and give your input regarding having a doubles night (or two) at the county park before we move the league to the city park.
May 31
What better way to wrap up the Memorial Day Weekend than to have some league play and get a new LDGA member (Jordan Spaulding). A field of 15 showed up to close out league session 1 at the county park. The family Harris captured plastic as Cameron took CTB honors on hole #3 and Kevin settled for 3rd place for the night after being beaten on a throw-off with Tracy Bottom who got 2nd place honors. Congrats to Rob Dillhoff for taking 1st place with an adjusted score of 50. The Ace Pool grew to $88 and will be carried over to the city park session since no one hit an ace. Next week's format will either be doubles or a scramble format at the county park and then it's off to the city park to start session #2 of league play on June 14.
June 7
Tonite served as a transition night as next week the league moves to the city park. Another good turnout as 16 people showed up and allowed for a scramble-night of 4 teams of 4 players. When all the scores were posted it was almost a dead heat. 3 of the 4 teams posted a score of 50 and the other team was only 1 stroke back at 51. A 12 person throw-off settled the tie as Gabe McMichael put his throw closest to the basket to allow his team the title for the night. Congrats to Rodger Hillard for CTB honors for the night on hole #4. Remember next week the league moves to the city park and handicapping will begin anew.
June 14
First league night at the city park and what a turnout! A field of 27 showed up to play which included our first 2 lady participants of league play as well as the rehab return of Kevin Hall who managed to play all 18 holes on crutches. Ricky Spaulding took top honors for the night with a score of 45. Jon Winfrey and Rodger Hillard tied for second with scores of 46 and Darryl Rollins took 4th with a 47. Tracy Bottom took the CTB title for the night as he parked his tee shot almost directly under basket #2. Everyone that played now has a handicap for the remainder of league session #2 at the city park. The ace pool remained unclaimed and is now worth over $100.
June 21
A return to the county park course due to the fair being in town brought out 20 disc'ers for another night of best-shot scramble. Five teams of four battled it out in the heat and when the dust had settled the team of Josh Winfrey, Tanner Kirkpatrick, Matthew Pinkston and Scott Young were sitting at the top with a team score of 46. Gabe McMichael captured the CTB flag for the night with an excellent drive on hole #3. Next week we return to the city to resume handicap singles play with the ace pool continuing to grow.
June 28
The second week of league session #2 resumed at the city park with 25 participants showing up to play. Rex Richardson finished at the top for the night with an adjusted score of 49. Second place went to Kevin Hall with a score of 50, third place went to Ricky Spaulding with a 51 and Cameron Harris took 4th place with a score of 52. Rex also captured the CTB honors for the night by landing his first drive on #8 under the basket. As Cameron Harris said "Even a blind squirrel finds a nut every now and then". The ace pool continues to grow as it went unclaimed for another night (although there were a couple of drives that hit either the top of the basket or the chains) and will be over $130 as we head into July. Daniel Masters did ace #6 playing a practice round just before league play started but that only got him a pat on the back.
July 5
Even with several regulars out of town for the holiday weekend, we still had 17 golfers competing on a warm summer night. Playing in his second league night, Andy Austin took top honors for the night with an adjusted score of 44. Ricky Kirkpatrick and Matthew Pinkson tied for the next spot with scores of 47. In the throw-off it only took Ricky one hole to claim 2nd place over Matthew who settled for 3rd place. For the second time in 3 weeks Tracy Bottom won the CTB title for the night, just edging out Ricky Spaulding on hole #6. The ace pool continues to grow as no aces were thrown so the jackpot will be close to $150 when league play continues on July 12.
July 12
Excitement was in the air tonight as 27 players made this the most played league night this year. Many of the scores were just as hot as the temperature was. Congrats to both Rodger Hillard and Ricky Spaulding who both shot 15-under rounds. Rodger captured the top honor for the night with an adjusted score of 45. Ricky claimed 2nd place with an adjusted score of 47. Adam Naumann, Jordan Spaulding and Kevin Harris all had an adjusted score of 49 so a throw-off was needed to settle the tie. When the dust had settled Adam was 3rd and Jordan took 4th. Rex Richardson was the CTB winner for the night with his first toss on hole #3. But the excitement for the night was created by the growing Ace Pool which stood at $168 at the start of play tonite. After several near misses all over the course by several disc'ers, Jordan Spaulding aced hole # 8 and moved into a new tax bracket. Congrats to Jordan. Next week the Ace Pool starts over from scratch.
July 19
Incredible! Another league night with 27 players participating. After a brief delay during the first 9 holes, a second wave of lightning and rain proved to be a little too much to try to play thru so scores were taken from everyone's first nine holes and doubled to figure in the handicapping and the winners for the night. After that calculating, it turned out to be a Harris night. Cameron captured the crown for the night with a score of 44 and Kevin took second with a score of 46. Tanner Kirkpatrick got third place with a score of 48 and George Hanks took fourth place with a 50. Eric Kopser won the CTB on hole #6 almost directly under the basket. The Ace pool started all over again and would have been worth $17 had anyone hit it but no one did. Next week (July 26) will be the final night of session #2. Show up to play and also find out what the plans will be for August.
July 26
Even with a few regulars taking the night off, we still had 22 players show up to close out summer session #2. Ricky Kirkpatrick was as hot as the weather and finished with an adjusted score of 43 and was the top dog. Daniel Masters and Dennis Couch both fired an adjusted score of 49 but Daniel was awarded 2nd place after a 1 hole playoff and Dennis settled for 3rd. The closest to the basket for the night on hole # 4 went to Andy Austin, whose first shot on #4 landed about 5 feet from the basket. No one hit an ace for the night so the Ace Pool will start at $35 when the next Ace Pool is played. The membership of the LDGA hit the 20-member mark tonite as Andy became the newest member. Welcome aboard, Andy. Since this was the last night of session #2 we're headed back to the county park on August 2. It'll be a "fun night" of some type of team format play that will be announced at the park next Monday night. Session #3 will start on August 9 with straight-up scoring and handicaps starting anew. Remember that to be eligible to win on league nights during session #3 (August 16, August 23, August 30, September 6, September 13), you must have an established handicap.
August 2
Another "fun night" to transition the league from session #2 into session #3 at the county park. Nineteen disc'ers showed up and were put into five 3-man groups and a 4-man group. First place team for the night consisted of Jon Winfrey, Andy Austin and Trent Miller with a score of 48. A throw-off between 2 teams shooting a 49 was held to determine 2nd place. The team of Cameron Harris, Tracy Bottom, David Tinnell and Donnie Leathers won the throw-off on hole #1. Trent Miller captured the CTB title for the night by resting his disc against the pole on hole #1. Congratulations go out to Kevin Hall who aced #3 with a nice forehand shot with a Champion Valkyrie. Session #3 starts next week (Aug. 9) at the county park. Actual scores will be used to determine the winners for the night and also to determine new handicaps for the remaining 5 nights of session #3. The Ace Pool will resume August 9 (sorry Kevin).
August 9
A new session and handicaps will start anew. Sixteen players braved the heat and humidity to establish handicaps for the remainder of session #3. Raw scores were used tonite only to determine our winners. Josh Winfrey took top honors for the night with a score of 48. Kevin Harris took second with a 52 and Rodger Hillard was third with a 54. Andy Austin barely captured the CTB on hole #1 on his last drive of the night. The Ace Pool resumed but went unclaimed and will carry over to August 16.
August 16
Seventeen disc'ers showed up and enjoyed a break from the heat and humidity. Handicapping went into effect tonite and brought everyone's scores closer together. First place went to Andy Austin with an adjusted score of 50. Rex Richardson got second with an adjusted score of 53. Cameron Harris and Josh Winfrey tied with an adjusted score of 55 but Cameron claimed third place after a throw-off. By just inches, Kevin Hall took the CTB honors for the night on hole #4. The Ace Pool went unclaimed yet another night so the $66 balance will carry over to next week.
August 23
The halfway point of session #3 and 21 players showed up to compete. First place went to Kevin Hall who had an adjusted score of 53. George Hanks and Ken Woosley both shot adjusted scores of 55 but George was awarded 2nd place after a throw-off and Ken took 3rd. Bill Gallion, Tracy Bottom and Allen Miller tied with a score of 57 so a throw-off for 4th place was won by Bill Gallion. For the second time in 3 weeks Andy Austin came away with the CTB honors for the night just edging out Kevin Harris on hole #2. The Ace Pool continues to grow as no one captured the treasure which was worth $82. Next week's fees will push the Ace Pool to the $100 neighborhood.
August 30
Week 4 of session #3 saw 15 disc'ers show up to do battle. After the dust had settled Allen Miller (the latest member of the Acehole Society) claimed top honors with an adjusted score of 49. What would a league night be without a throw-off and tonite was no exception. Daniel Masters and Dan Skees each had an adjusted score of 55 but Daniel M. won the throw-off for second place and Dan S. settled for third. Rodger Hillard on his last drive of the night edged out President Winfrey for CTB honors on hole #3. The Ace Pool was worth $98 but only a couple of near aces happened so all ace funds roll over to the Sept. 6 league night. Only 2 more league nights remain in this session so come on out and make the most of them.
September 6
The Labor Day holiday may have kept a few people away but 11 diehards showed up for the next-to-last league night of this session and a shot at the growing Ace Pool (it's over $100 now). The wind made ace runs a bit difficult as no one claimed the growing ace pool. Rex Richardson had an adjusted score of 55 to take 1st place for the night. Tracy Bottom had an adjusted score of 56 to get 2nd place and Rodger Hillard took 3rd with an adjusted score of 57. That's right, no throw-offs were needed tonight. Coming off the injured list, Ricky Spaulding captured the CTB honors for the night with his excellent throw on hole # 7. Make plans to attend the last league night (of the year?) next week on September 13.
September 13
The final league night of session #3 (and possibly the last league night of 2010) attracted 11 disc'ers. The competition remained hot even as the autumn temps started to drop. The newest LDGA member, Andy Austin, took home the top honors for the night shooting an adjusted score of 51. Second place went to Kevin Hall with a score of 53 and the orange-and-blue clad Rodger Hillard captured third with a score of 55. Kevin Harris managed to control his drive and nailed down the CTB honors on hole #2. The Ace Pool went unclaimed tonite so it looks like the first league night of session #1 of 2011 will start with an Ace Pool over $100. Thanks to everyone who made all 3 league sessions of 2010 very successful. Efforts will be made to make 2011 even bigger and better. Trent Miller captured the CTB title for the night by resting his disc against the pole on hole #1. Congratulations go out to Kevin Hall who aced #3 with a nice forehand shot with a Champion Valkyrie. Session #3 starts next week (Aug. 9) at the county park. Actual scores will be used to determine the winners for the night and also to determine new handicaps for the remaining 5 nights of session #3. The Ace Pool will resume August 9 (sorry Kevin).
August 9
A new session and handicaps will start anew. Sixteen players braved the heat and humidity to establish handicaps for the remainder of session #3. Raw scores were used tonite only to determine our winners. Josh Winfrey took top honors for the night with a score of 48. Kevin Harris took second with a 52 and Rodger Hillard was third with a 54. Andy Austin barely captured the CTB on hole #1 on his last drive of the night. The Ace Pool resumed but went unclaimed and will carry over to August 16.
August 16
Seventeen disc'ers showed up and enjoyed a break from the heat and humidity. Handicapping went into effect tonite and brought everyone's scores closer together. First place went to Andy Austin with an adjusted score of 50. Rex Richardson got second with an adjusted score of 53. Cameron Harris and Josh Winfrey tied with an adjusted score of 55 but Cameron claimed third place after a throw-off. By just inches, Kevin Hall took the CTB honors for the night on hole #4. The Ace Pool went unclaimed yet another night so the $66 balance will carry over to next week.
August 23
The halfway point of session #3 and 21 players showed up to compete. First place went to Kevin Hall who had an adjusted score of 53. George Hanks and Ken Woosley both shot adjusted scores of 55 but George was awarded 2nd place after a throw-off and Ken took 3rd. Bill Gallion, Tracy Bottom and Allen Miller tied with a score of 57 so a throw-off for 4th place was won by Bill Gallion. For the second time in 3 weeks Andy Austin came away with the CTB honors for the night just edging out Kevin Harris on hole #2. The Ace Pool continues to grow as no one captured the treasure which was worth $82. Next week's fees will push the Ace Pool to the $100 neighborhood.
August 30
Week 4 of session #3 saw 15 disc'ers show up to do battle. After the dust had settled Allen Miller (the latest member of the Acehole Society) claimed top honors with an adjusted score of 49. What would a league night be without a throw-off and tonite was no exception. Daniel Masters and Dan Skees each had an adjusted score of 55 but Daniel M. won the throw-off for second place and Dan S. settled for third. Rodger Hillard on his last drive of the night edged out President Winfrey for CTB honors on hole #3. The Ace Pool was worth $98 but only a couple of near aces happened so all ace funds roll over to the Sept. 6 league night. Only 2 more league nights remain in this session so come on out and make the most of them.
September 6
The Labor Day holiday may have kept a few people away but 11 diehards showed up for the next-to-last league night of this session and a shot at the growing Ace Pool (it's over $100 now). The wind made ace runs a bit difficult as no one claimed the growing ace pool. Rex Richardson had an adjusted score of 55 to take 1st place for the night. Tracy Bottom had an adjusted score of 56 to get 2nd place and Rodger Hillard took 3rd with an adjusted score of 57. That's right, no throw-offs were needed tonight. Coming off the injured list, Ricky Spaulding captured the CTB honors for the night with his excellent throw on hole # 7. Make plans to attend the last league night (of the year?) next week on September 13.
September 13
The final league night of session #3 (and possibly the last league night of 2010) attracted 11 disc'ers. The competition remained hot even as the autumn temps started to drop. The newest LDGA member, Andy Austin, took home the top honors for the night shooting an adjusted score of 51. Second place went to Kevin Hall with a score of 53 and the orange-and-blue clad Rodger Hillard captured third with a score of 55. Kevin Harris managed to control his drive and nailed down the CTB honors on hole #2. The Ace Pool went unclaimed tonite so it looks like the first league night of session #1 of 2011 will start with an Ace Pool over $100. Thanks to everyone who made all 3 league sessions of 2010 very successful. Efforts will be made to make 2011 even bigger and better.
